The email arrived on a Tuesday morning in March, before my second cup of coffee. A customer in northern Chile had sent photos of a hydraulic leak on a new XCMG motor grader. We also printed a one-page field guide with photos of that exact clamp and put it inside the engine hood. It sounds basic, but the basic stuff is what gets skipped when nobody feels ownership.
By dinner, the machine was running clean. Carlos took a photo of the torque label and said he’d make it a checklist item for every machine on the site, not just ours.
